Jónsi Birgisson, the anxious page, skylarked, willed, intoned, breathed.
Another was there, listening. Buttons were depressed, and skirts 'battered'.
Known for his shenanigans with the outfit known not only to their parents
as Sígur Rós, but a few others as well, the utterances were recorded,
suggested and indeed supervised as well as made by The Hafler Trio. And of
this, we are very glad. Marvellous and delightful things have and are
issuing forth from this. |

Exactly As I Do finds The Hafler Trio collaborating with Jonsi Birgisson,
the vocalist and guitar player for the Icelandic group Sigur Ros. Exactly As
I Do is part of the Hafler Trio's continuing Voice Series which has already
included Blixa Bargeld of Einsturzende Neubauten and David Tibet of Current
93. Exactly As I Do is lavishly packaged in a special die cut oversized
package printed on two different types of parchment, meant to imitate small
editions of French poetry ca. 1900.
From The Hafler Trio:
"All's well that ends well, as the wren when she pissed into the sea. Jonsi
and the h3o embark on waters, not treading and almost walking. The voice of
the mistress calls us all, and here, the phone number is supplied. recorded
and manipulated, careessed and coffeted in the fine city of Reykjavik in
2005, the ears are the orifice that is made love to with the caresses of a
beast covered in honey. Personality is flipped to
negative, essence is flipped to positive. The work feeds the latter".

Andrew McKenzie inviting Jónsi Birgisson
of Sigur Rós to collaborate with him on this project, and to Jónsi for
accepting. Although he might as well have selected some random
passerby for all that the technical manipulations and extensions of
Jónsi's sampled voice render it totally unrecognisable, the fact is
that it is Jónsi's voice
Exactly As I Say (Phonometrography, 2004) and Exactly As I Do (2005)
that use Sigur Ros's vocalist Jonsi Birgisson as the source. With this
trilogy on the human voice, Andrew McKenzie entered the sphere of
