INNI
film INNI, utilizzando telecamere fisse e 5 cameramen
dell'Alexandra Palace). Un lavoro di precisione struggente.
INNI – the definitive Sigur Rós live experience –
pellicola, uscirà a Novembre 2011
Sveinsson, Orri Pall Dyrason, John Best, Vincent Morisset.
(Rocco

World Premiere of the Day Authors - Venice Days INNI
for the film by Vincent Morisset, the French-Canadian
director who has worked with Arcade Fire and is currently
working with the band Godspeed You Black Emperor.
The Sigur Rós concluded the 2008 tour at the
Alexandra Palace in London with two dates, on 20 and 21
November.
On that occasion, Vincent Morisset shot his new film INNI,
using fixed cameras and 5 cameraman in 75 minutes to collect
the most exciting moments of these two nights.
INNI collects, in addition to the scenes of the
concert, including excerpts, sometimes hilarious, or
episodes of interviews dating back to 1998, "told" with a
high emotional charge, including details of the set, and
beam shots.
When I went to London in 2008, I met the band before the
concert in an atmosphere of celebration on the occasion of
the birthday of their tour manager, John Best. I could not,
however, enjoy the concert as I wished, perhaps because of
the large size of the room.
reviewing the whole evening through the film, however, was
an almost touching experience. I knew that I would remember
the images already present in the mind, but the visual
impact of the film was prodigious: in the sequences of
Morisset's work you can live the feelings and efforts, so
what we all feel immensely involved.
The director also used the images that came from the local
security control room, using a dozen monitored track balls,
to enlarge the images of the audience (the cameras were
positioned along the entire ceiling at Alexandra Palace). An
absolutely heartbreaking work of precision.
INNI - the definitive Sigur Rós live
experience - composed by a double live album and a 75-minute
film, released in November 2011.
Björn Erlingur Flóki Björnsson and Darren Webb have dealt
with the research for the clips - official site
www.sigur-ros.co.uk (Some pictures of the concert are in B /
W while the various clips are in color).
The setlist, not in order of execution, includes the
following tracks: Svefn-G-Englar - NY Batteri - Fljótavík -
Inni Mer Syngur Vitleysingur - E-Bow - Sæglópur - Festivals
- Popplagið - Duet - Untitled.
Speakers for the premiere: Georg Holm, Kjartan Sveinsson,
Orri Páll Dýrason, John Best, Vincent Morisset.
Absent the singer Jón Þór Birgisson (Jónsi), who is located
in Los Angeles these days, where he is working on the
soundtrack for Cameron Crowe's new film “We Bought a Zoo”, due out in the U.S.
at the end of the year.
At the end of the screening there was a meeting with the
band, which answered questions from the audience. (Rocco

synopsis: INNI is Sigur Rós's second live film following 2007's
hugely-celebrated “Heima”. Whereas that film positioned the
enigmatic group in the context of their Icelandic homeland,
providing geographical, social and historical perspectives
on their otherworldly music, with uplifting results, “Inni”
focusses purely on the band's performance, which is artfully
and intimately captured by French-Canadian director Vincent
Morisset (Arcade Fire's “Miroir Noir”). Interweaving archive
material from the band's first ten years with the sometimes
gossamer light, sometimes punishingly intense, concert
footage, “Inni” is a persuasive account of one of the most
celebrated and influential rock bands of recent years. “INNI is the intimate in the middle of a big stage. It's the
abstraction of the gestures and the magnification of
delightful details. It's a tribute to the unique energy of
Sigur Rós. INNI leaves room to all the beautiful images that
come to our minds when we listen to their music.” (Vincent
Morisset)

The concert film is one of cinema’s most difficult and
complex genres: two languages meet, confront each other, try
to prevail one over the other and explore a rhythmic code
which is unprecendented both for the musicians as for the
director. The result is seldom an original and harmonious
fusion. However, watching the brilliant and well-researched
black and white images of INNI, one gets the sense of a
common script, from the keyboards to voice, which moulds and
fades the images, looks for signs and details and which
rebels against convention time and again. For those who love
Sigur Rós it is a genuine gift that the director does not
ruin the perfect musical sound; for those looking for
cinema, this isn’t just music; it is a creation of images
which do not illustrate the music, but serve to enhance it.
